Abstract

Natural laws (physical laws, effects, and so on) are important information for supporting invention and development of artifacts. Then, the purpose of this study is to present a concrete “Artifact Invention Supporting System” to engineers. In this study, function denotes the core of theoretical knowledge on inventions and developments. So, a function is represented by process knowledge combining some natural laws and changing some constraints on natural laws. The research procedure is to reanalyze existing functions and to derive the aspect for new function using previous result. As a result, this paper shows three concrete examples and investigates a system to create automatically these useful knowledges adopting methods.
