Abstract
We propose a new car sensing system using two amorphous wire CMOS magneto-impedance (MI) sensor built in a disk set on the road. When a car passes above the disk, two MI sensors detect stray field from the car body The speed and length of a car can be estimated using the signals detected with the two MI sensors. We used a cross correlation function to detect the time interval between two detected waveforms. The proposed sensing system is useful not only for a traffic control but also for a traffic census for an environmental design of a big city residence.
