Abstract

High-speed switching with wide bandgap semiconductor switches is increasingly being applied to motor drive systems in electric vehicles. However, the MHz ringing phenomenon caused by high-speed switching leads to an increase in losses in magnetic materials of the motors. This letter proposes a low-pass filter (LPF) to suppress the MHz ringing phenomenon. Furthermore, it demonstrates that the use of the proposed LPF results in the reduction of iron and copper losses.
