It used to be considered that the maximum capacity of gas cooled gas-filled transformers were about 30MVA due to the small heat capacity of gas. Based on the intensive study on basic technology in various technical fields, large capacity gas cooled gas-filled transformers have been developed. Gas-filled transformers are commonly used today up to 330kV and 400MVA.
