Abstract

This paper reports a hybrid energy harvesting approach which combines triboelectricity and piezoelectricity based on low-frequency (less than 5 Hz, such as environmental vibrations) stochastic resonance. A vibration configuration was well designed to enhance the conversion efficiency of mechanical energy to electricity via the stochastic vibration mechanism. Furthermore, the electric output performance of this generator is significantly strengthened by adding triboelectric effects to piezoelectricity based bi-stable structured energy harvester. The maximum power density of the piezoelectric part and triboelectric part are 28.06 µW/cm2 and 44.82 µW/cm2, respectively, showing attractive potential for generating high output by harvesting low-frequency vibration from the environment over a broad frequency band.
