This paper tries to examine various attempts at user-education in Kunitachi College of Music Library, from the historical point of view. By tracing its development, we can see not only actual records of our practices but also transitions in Kunitachi College of Music Library's theory of user-education.
In the first period, user-education in the Library started in the form of single-handed trials by individual librarian. In the second period, the Library as a body began to consider this problem. Many efforts were made inn the field of publicity in order to help students and lecturers understand the original purpose of library. We are now in the third period in which we have tried to re-consider the theory and practice of user-education from the original standpoint of “user-guidance”
In addition to historical survey this paper, by examining three differrent cases of user-education which have been observed during this year, points out some problems we have to sole ih future.
