The International Medical Information Center (IMIC) has been collecting information on the proceedings of conferences held in Japan in the medical science field since IMIC's establishment in 1972. This report introduces the database and summarizes IMIC's collection of proceedings, the purpose of constructing the database, the acquisition, screening, and input of the data, and keyword (subject) indexing. The database provides bibliographic data on preprints, abstracts, papers and proceedings of conferences held in Japan since 1990 which have appeared in Japanese medical journals (about 1, 400 titles) and monographs (IMIC's collection). It will contain over 5, 000 records as of the end of February 1993, and an estimated 3, 500-4, 000 additions are expected each year.
