This case report describes the course of counselling with the mother of a primary school girl who presented to the pediatrics department for neurodevelopmental disorders. The mother’s concerns, which were about her daughter’s behavior and adjustment difficulties, were continuously addressed over 15 sessions. The issue of “behavior problems during panic” was dealt with in three sessions, with single-session therapy provided for each. The mother’s awareness of her problems and needs changed throughout the stages of therapy and alongside her daughter’s development. Viewing the case study from both vertical and horizontal perspectives highlighted the importance of both completion and continuity of the therapy.
