Vacuum extraction hydrogen analyses were made on copper and some binary copper-base alloys melted under 1 atm. of hydrogen. Hydrogen absorbed in molten copper for time t could be expressed as:
CH=7.46(1−e-0.2436t)
The equilibrium constant K of molten copper and hydrogen at a temperature T(°K) was:
ln k=5.502−5,250/T
The heat of reaction of molten copper and hydrogen was 21,000cal/g⋅mol. The interaction parameter e?? of particular alloying elements for equilibrium between copper and hydrogen were obtained as follows:
e??=−0.0129−9.55/T
e??=−0.0046−3.69/T
e??=−0.0115+31.05/T
e??=−0.0055+34.96/T
e??=−0.0018+67.75/T
