Perphenazine (“Trilafon”: Schering) was used in the treatment of 12 cases of schizophrenia and 3 cases of depression, who had not been effected by the treatments with chlorpromazine and others.
Excellent effects were manifested in 6 cases of schizophrenia. These effects resulted in the decrease of pathologic experiences and the promotion of activity. Slight and transient excitement with somatoemotional stimulation was found at the beginning of the clinical administration by gradual increase of the dosage. No desirable effect was found in 3 cases of depression.
Parkinsonismus was found as side effect in some cases. By laboratory examination, electroencephalographic improvements were found.
