Abstract
Two cases of leiom yoma of the stomach were reported.
Case No, 1, The patient was a 71-years-old female who was admitted to the hospital with the chief complaints of hematemesis and tarry stool. An upper gastrointestinal series had shown a niche on the lesser curvature above the angle of the stomach. By GTF examination, an elevated change with a central ulceration, on the lesser curvature above the angle a little toward the anterior wall was noticed. Partial gastric resection was performed. On the operated stomach, a tumor, with a central ulceration, 3.4×3.0×2.0 cm in size was noticed on the lesser curvatue of the anterior wall. Microscopic sections revealed leiomyoma, but no evidence of malignancy.
Case No. 2. The patient was a 61-years-old male who was admitted to the hospital because of epigastric pain and epigastric fullness. An upper gastrointestinal series had shown a shape of tumor, having a niche, on the posterior wall of the corpus. Gastroscopy revealed a polyp on the anterior wall of the antrum and a large smooth elevation, having a central ulceration and the sign of “bridging folds”, on the posterior wall of the corpus. Gastrectomy was done. Resected specimen showed a polyp of the antrum and a tumor with a central ulceration, 4.0×4.0×2.0 cm in size on the posterior wall of the corpus. Microscopic examination revealed leiomyoma and hyperplastic polyp, but no evidence of malignancy.
