Effects on the respiratory and circulatory system by Ketalar anesthesia with intravenous or intramuscular way were investigated on 80 cases, Results were as follows. Systolic blood pressure showed 16% increase in i.v. group and 8% increase in i.m. group. Pulse rate showed 23% increase in i.v. group and 9% increase in i.m. group. Respiration rate did not show any significant change in the both group. Tidal volume showed 27% decrease in i.v. group and 20% decrease in i. m. group. Arterial blood gas showed a decrease of Pao2, increase of Paco2, decrease of pH, and decrease of B. E., In conclusion, Ketalar affected obviously respiratory and circulatory system, but it did not affect clinical problem.
Ketalar is a safe anesthetic drug compared with thiopenthal. Ketalar anesthesia is a excellent method as intravenous induction anesthesia for adults and intramuscular single anesthesia for children.
