Abstract
Statistical observation was made on in-patients of the Pediatric Ward and Newborn Care Unit at Okura National Hospital from March 1972 to May 1975.
Total numbers of in-patients were 1929. In 1972, 26.5% of 313 in-patients were respira-tory diseases, 21% of them were neurological diseases and 13.4% were from maternity ward. In 1973, new maternity ward was built up and newborn care unit removed from pediatric ward. In 1975, 31.4% of 191 patients were diseases of newborn, and 23.7% of pediatric ward patient were neurological diseases.
34% of neurological patients came from Setagaya and Komae district where our hospital was located, while 77% of the other patients (patients without neurological disease) came from the district.: 66% of neurological patients came from other district.
Total number of neurological patients was high compared with the data of other hospital
