Abstract
I have observed a 48-years-old female patient for eleven years. Her original clinical symptoms were slight fever, arthralgia, facial erythema and skin lesion on the cervical and antebrachial region. These symptoms were well controlled by the use of steroid hormone. The dosage was 3 mg of rinderon at the beginning, and has gradually been reduced. Of late, symptoms have been improved with only 0.5 mg. The patient shows no ill effects except that she is obese and presented slight moon-facies. Presently only purpura is seen persistently. Laboratory findings indicated at first slight anemia, leucopenia, positiveness of the LE cells and hepatic dysfunction, though they are normal respectively at present. Hypercholesterolemia continued throughout the course. As for the functions of the kidney, slight lowering of the PSP test and slight albuminuria were occasionally seen, but the urea nitrogen in the blood has always been normal. The CRP, RA test and S. T. S. were all negative. The γ-Globulin of serum protein has been also normal. X-ray examination never showed any change in the lung fields. The E. K. G. showed first degree atrioventricular block in the beginning, subsequently it became normal. 14 years have elapsed since the first attack of her disease, but she is now enjoying an ordinary life as housewife.
