Abstract
[Purpose] In clinical practice, towel gathering exercise is generally performed as exercise therapy for flat feet, but there is no definite opinion on the influence on the arch height of the foot. This study aimed to verify the influence of the toe's abduction angle on the medial longitudinal arch of the foot.[Subjects and Methods] Female students 6 pairs of 12 legs were compared. The MP joints of the foot were extended to 0° and the arch height was compared between the inner and outer transitional intermediate positions of the MP joint and passively abducted, and similarly compared at the extension of 40°.[Results] The arch height increased with the MP joint abduction at either 0° or 40°.[Conclusion]The medial longitudinal arches rise together with toe rupture, and in this study it was suggested that the toe's abduction is a movement to raise the medial longitudinal arch.
