Abstract
Triboelectrification behaviors of polyester, polymethylmethacrylate, and polystyrene films were investigated in contact with standard carrier beads (P-02, P-01, N-02, and N-01 carrier beads) developed by the technical committee of toner-based material in the Imaging Society of Japan. For the charging of the polar polymer films (polyester and poly (methylmethacrylate) ), the charging ability of the carrier beads was in the order of (positive side) P-02>P-01>N-02>N-01 (negative side), being the same order as that determined by the technical committee in the charging between the standard carrier beads and model toners. In addition, it was demonstrated that a structural resemblance of the carrier coating materials to the polymer films was correlated with the reproducibility of the charging data, and that the hydrophilic/hydrophobic property of the coating materials was associated with the humidity dependence of the charging of the polymer films.
