Abstract

In recent years the word “LGBT” has been popular in the Japanese media. And this word has raised various issues linking the sexual minorities’ problems with other fields in the society. For example, “LGBT and Consumption” “LGBTs in the work place” “Education and LGBT” and so on. In this trend the responses by administration such as partnership certificate were realized. However the realities which had been referred so far have presupposed those who were living in big and metropolitan cities. This perspective is conceptualized as “metronormativity”. The objective of this paper is to explore the realities of sexual minorities living in non-metropolitan local city that have been rendered invisible through their narratives and to describe how to make their life even in the situation with little resources through the perspective of metronormativity.
