Abstract
We would have predicted that one day emerging infectious diseases would dominate the world, but there was no mention of the threat of emerging infectious diseases among 169 targets in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The adoption of the SDGs in 2015 was a turning point in the world. The SDGs are just a tool to transform the world for reducing disparities and inequality. In Thailand, the government has trained health volunteers before the emergency, and utilized them to connect among the comunity, health professionals and the government during COVID-19. Health volunteers are one of the leading players in primary health care during the post COVID-19 era. Now is the time for the experience and wisdom of international volunteers that we have cultivated over many years. While humbly learning from the efforts of countries around the world, share successful experiences generously, and be careful not to make the same mistake as our failure. There is a need for the learning arena where citizens and researchers are mixed and united across specialized fields and national borders.
