Recently, liquid crystal display(LCD) have been used for reconstruction of holographic images. In holographic display on the LCD, reconstructed true images are often disturbed by transmission beams, conjugate images, and harmonic images, because the LCD consists of picture elements and has not enough resolution to display interference fringes. We studied about spatial filtering as a means of suppressing such disturbance of true images and confirmed its effectiveness in an experiment. We will be able to enlarge the display area by switching this spatial filter time-sequentially.
