This report addresses the relation between the picture quality and the perception of Japanese Sign Language(JSL) sentences that are generated by an editing approach. One of main aims of our study is the use of synthesized sign sentences for VoD(Video on Demand) service that enable deaf people to get information through JSL. The results of perceptual experiments show certain interesting features : The degradation of picture quality has an effect on the reduction of the unnaturalness of sign sentences. Deaf people are very sensitive in picture quality compared to hearing people in the perception.
