OFDM is expected to be a suitable modulation method for digital terrestrial broadcasting systems. One of the reasons is that it makes it possible to provide services to an indoor/outdoor portable receiver with an in-built or set-top receiving antenna. For planning of broadcasting services to portable receivers, indoor field measurements in urban areas around Tokyo were carried out. In this paper, the measurement results of signal levels attenuated by external walls, windows and obstacles are described.
