We have studied the molecular alignment of polymer-walls through polarized Raman spectral microscopy. These walls were founed in liquid crystal by local photopolymerization-induced phase separation under an electric field. We found that without any applied voltage the side-chain molecules of the polymer-walls oriented in the rubbing direction of alignment layers coated on the substrate, but with applied voltage the molecules oriented along the electric field. Novel three-dimensional alignment technology realized by using the interfaces of both the polymer-walls and alignment layers could stabilize the bend configuration in the π-cell.
