19-2 A Wide Dynamic Range Image Sensor Using A Multiple Resolution A/D Converter

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a method to expand a dynamic range using a multiple resolution A/D Converter. The wide dynamic range image sensor synthesizes long-time and multiple short-time exposure signals for high image quality in whole illumination range. A key technique is a high-speed high-resolution column-parallel integration-type A/D converter with multiple slope. Evaluation results of the wide dynamic range image sensor is reported.
