It has been reported that the contact angle of isotropic phase droplet on the rubbed polyimides (PIs) surface is strongly related to the rubbing strength. In this paper, the relationship between the surface order parameter and the contact angle was investigated using polarized IR absorption. A slight birefringence was also observed even at the isotropic temperature, which indicates ordered LC layer existed on the Pis surface as Miyano reported.
