In this paper, we propose a method of dynamically estimating probability distribution of image intensity values pel-by-pel for the purpose of efficient lossless coding. The distribution is modeled as a weighted sum of Gaussian functions and their parameters are numerically optimized to reduce the resulting coding rate.
