We studied about the coding efficiency for MPEG-4 AVC to HDTV. The experimental result using JM6.1e shows that the control of the bit allocation for the whole sequence and for each picture type is more complicated than the existing video encoding method like MPEG-2. And the control for the improvement in subjective quality of image is also difficult.
