Abstract
Reflective LCDs attract many interest as a key device of the high functional portable information system that will be developed in near future. These LCDs are classified into three types (Types A to C) in the view point of reflection and scattering system. The Type A is composed of diffusing reflector with rough surface. The Type B is composed of scattering type LCD, and the Type C is of front scattering film and mirror electrode. The Types A and C are promising to high performance reflective display with high brightness, gray scale and full-color capability. These reflective color LCDs are promising also to monitor display for information systems that require less eye-fatigue as well as high quality display.
