CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS FREE ACCESSThe Use of color images is growing year by year. For pursuing to exchange color data freely, it is required to standardize the ambient condition for color data exchange. In this report, the color data processing scheme is described as the background of the standardization. Next, the colorimetric characteristics of four color prints and the study of special characteristics of black ink on the basis of color inks' characteristics are explained. For the evaluation of color prints, the condition to observe prints and monitors is important. CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS FREE ACCESSReflective LCDs attract many interest as a key device of the high functional portable information system that will be developed in near future. These LCDs are classified into three types (Types A to C) in the view point of reflection and scattering system. The Type A is composed of diffusing reflector with rough surface. The Type B is composed of scattering type LCD, and the Type C is of front scattering film and mirror electrode. The Types A and C are promising to high performance reflective display with high brightness, gray scale and full-color capability. CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS FREE ACCESSRepression of the image defect and Improvement of the essential quality are necessary for increase in image quality in the ink jet technology. To control an image defect, the stability of the print head, the manufacture precision, the way of driving it, the optimization of the recovery system, the improvement of the precision of the printer mechanism, and so on are important subjects. To improve the essential quality, print heads, ink systems, record media must be improved so that sharpness of the image, granularity, expression of gradation, coloring performance are satisfied at the same time.
