Abstract
A trial of miniaturization of an array antenna using frequency multipliers has been reported(1). In this cases, the array consists of monopole antennas as element antennas, so the receiving level of each antenna does not change at any directions. Of course the multipliers have no tracking capability of the input level change. The array utilizes the phase information only. Now if the frequency multiplier has the tracking capability of the imput level change, it allows us to apply any kinds of element antennas which have some directivity. Therefore the array antenna consisting of the directive element antennas would have a sharper beam. This paper describes the experimental results of a narrow element spacing array antenna using the level sensitive frequency multipliers(LSFM), which is consisted of PLL(Phase Looked Loop)circuits and level controllers. This array antenna shows the equivalent receiving patterns of the array antennas without the multipliers having the element spacing of the multiple function of "n"times.
