Abstract
The reflective color LCD is an important device for highly portable information terminals. In this paper, we numerically analyze the electro-optical properties of a single polarizer reflective M(Modified)DTN-LCD with one retardation film. This LCD has the same structure as the previously proposed single polarizer reflective DTN-LCD and/or FDTN-LCD with one retardation film. However, the retardations of the compensating TN cell(or LC polymer film)and the driving TN cell are different. We found that the LCD exhibits a high luminous reflectance and a high contrast ratio when the device parameters are optimized even if a typical LC polymer film with a large dispersion of Δn is used.
