Abstract
We proposed a new method for locating a faulty facility with high accuracy that uses absolute location makers with assigned BFSs. We designed the frequency difference of the BFS and the marker length. We also demonstrated that we can measure the location marker fiber with a BOTDR and confirmed that the experimental results agreed with the design. This method is effective for reducing the maintenance costs and improving the service reliability of optical fiber networks.
