We frequently find sense of visually induced self-motion perception (vection) in Japanese animation films. Our purpose of this study was to make a database of vection scenes in Japanese animations and provide psychologists all over the world with that database. We could find 110 vection scenes. We uploaded that information on our web site (senotake.jp). We also conducted a psychological experiment to obtain subjective vection strengths and compared them to perceived vection obtained by a normal and simple vection stimulus (the standard stimulus) that had been used in our previous vection experiments. The perceived vection strengths induced by those scenes were nearly the same strength as that of vection induced by the standard stimulus. We revealed some effective techniques of scene presentations. Finally we focused on vection scenes in Osamu Tezuka’s animation films. By comparing Tezuka’s works to the present CG animations, we could focus on the difference between before and after of 3D CG techniques.
