8-7 Computer-aided Digitization of Measured Drawings of Archeological Remains

Abstract

Vectorization process of hand-drawn measured drawings of archeological remains is one of the most time-consuming tasks for researchers. A vectorization algorithm is proposed for converting scanned raster images into vector drawings suitable for publishing. The sectional patterns on a graph paper is eliminated using Fourier Transform and vectors are extracted by connecting local extrema of pixel values.
