Estimating Reflectance Spectra by Squared Error Minimization of Tristimulus Values

Abstract

We propose a method for estimating reflectance spectra from tristimulus values by minimizing the squared error between the original tristimulus values and their estimated ones. The proposed least squares problem has an analytic solution. Experimental results show that the estimated reflectance spectra reproduce the original tristimulus values well.
