Abstract
duino is a pronominal open-source hardware framework for microcontrollers, while Processing is an open-source integrated development environment based on Java. Both have outstanding advantages such as independence on platforms, inexpensiveness (or free of charge), and extreme easiness to learn for students as well as teachears, partially because they were originally designed for non-technical users. In this paper, we introduce the use of Arduino, Processing and relevant open-source technologies for system control experiment, and demonstrate their advantage with a kinematic nonholonomic system called the trident snake robot.
