Abstract
In this paper, a control system of an electric power steering considering of both the steering feeling to drivers and the maneuverability of a vehicle is designed based on a dynamical model of a steering system. In order to properly assist the driver's steering depending on a vehicle speed and a sensor torque on a steering axis, a gain-scheduled control is applied to the control system. The steering feeling to drivers is verified from hysteresis characteristics of the steering torque, and the maneuverability of the vehicle is verified from response characteristics of the vehicle in a driver-vehicle system.
