Abstract

A local inheritance mechanism is essential for the "preservation and utilization" of cultural landscapes. It is important for the inheritance mechanism to share local residents’ value of the landscape as well as the awareness.

This paper focuses on “matsuri,” where residents will feel a sense of unity. For example, the “Aoi matsuri” in the Mizojiri area of Miyazu City and the “ Aki matsuri” in the Karihama area of Seiyo City.

We will then consider the impact that matsuri have on the shared consciousness of local residents and the significance they provide, to the sharing of the value of the Japanese cultural landscapes.
