Abstract
Local regions are faced with the problem of how to inherit and preserve the tangible and intangible culture of that area whilst moving on to new creations. By using the medium of digital archives, we believe we have been able to find one possible answer to this problem. The case of OmiHachiman, Shiga Prefecture is one illustration of this. This paper shows the meaning and purpose behind the production of digital high vision archives of constructions designed be Vories, and their counterpart, the traditional trading houses, in OmiHachiman.
