Preliminary Consideration towards the Formation of Japanese Policies on Cultural and Intellectual Information Resources

Abstract

Little attention has been paid towards cultural and intellectual information resources policy issues in Japan. In this paper, authors aim to clarify the current issues concerning the formation and study of cultural and intellectual information resources policy from some points of view, with recognition of the usefulness of the viewpoint of library and information science. The authors also identify the theoretical and practical requisites to be considered for the further study on the policy of cultural and intellectual information resources by applying the framework of the information flow, which has been widely accepted in library and information science research.
