Abstract
This article proves that cultural institution has the potential to make a contribution to the promotion of regional policy, based on the analysis of activities by cultural institution to community renovation.
In Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, the public museum offers the opportunity for regional study to the citizens; it shows that the museum contributes to the improvement of regional space, landscape and community renovation on social development.
Supported by a higher-level regional policy for community renovation, the museum has a positive effect on the management and the community development in cooperation with citizen.
