An analysis of high school and junior high school Chinese textbooks in Korea

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to obtain educational suggestions for Japanese high school classes through an analysis of high school and junior high school Chinese textbooks in Korea. As a research method, a quantitative and qualitative analyses of textbooks were conducted. The results showed that vocabulary and expressions were homogeneous across every junior high and high school textbooks. It was found that a relatively high proportion corresponded to the curriculum. Regarding grammar, it was found that HSK 3-4 (CEFR B1-B2) or more items also appeared in high school textbooks. It is thought that even in the same beginner textbooks, the junior high textbooks focus on important and basic content, while high school textbooks aim to provide richer communication in addition to basic items.
