In the Global Studies Course at Showa Women's University Junior High School, teaching the Chinese language is a compulsory subject for second and third grade students. Chinese language education at senior high schools is well known and the amount of research on syllabus design is quite abundant. Also, there have been many textbooks published. On the other hand, the number of research papers and reports on Chinese language education in junior high schools is limited because few schools are conducting Chinese language education. In this report, I would like to introduce our practices when teaching Chinese, and I hope it will be an opportunity to expand the discussion about the meaning of second language education in junior high schools.
