ABSTRACT : This paper investigates the effects of a virtual reality experience on an individual’s awareness and behavior regarding environmental issues. Test subjects were shown a 360 degree panoramic video of coastal environments while brainwave activity was monitored. Test subject’s general reception to the experience was investigated, and the correlation between the physiological parameter of brainwaves and change in behavior was evaluated using the cause model. As88% of test subjects expressed wishes to experience virtual reality again, general reception of the experience was adjudged to be good. It was deducted that subjects who displayed an increase in cause model phase due to the virtual reality experience, will display a change in behavior provided they have easy access to bodies of water.
