Abstract
In this article, “International Guidelines for Museum Object information: The CIDOC Information Categories”, it is called IGMOI in the followings for convenience, is introduced and is compared with “General international Standard Bibliographic Description” (ISBD(G)) and “General international Standard Archival Description” (ISAD(G)). IGMOI is a reference model which is used for designing a collection documentation or description system. Its descriptive items are not used directly but used as a basis for descriptive items of a museum. The value of items is basically controlled in order to realize consistent description and effective information retrieval. In this sense, the character of IGMOI is very different form that of ISBD(G) and ISAD(G).
