Media literacy refers to people's management of all types of media, from television, newspaper, radio, and magazines to comics, music, movies, videos, and TV games, and their ability to make sense of the information sent out by the media. What method, then, should be employed to help individuals understand and improve their media literacy? One method is the making of videos by those who had until now been passive recipients of information. That is because, in fact, the production of video material itself is an act of creation, and through their active participation in this video production people can learn from each other in what might be called their "video community", forming closer bonds to their surrounding society. In this paper I will consdider a simple case study and explore the direction media should be taking.
