Abstract
This study, based on the questionnaire completed by 99 visiting nurses who teach visiting nursing care, aims to clarify factors involved when they set their career goals. The obtained data showed that the visiting nurses identified their own
weaknesses in several different areas including "nursing practice," "interpersonal relationships," and "collaboration with communities and with other professions." The questionnaire, at the same time, also shed light on hopes and visions embraced by the visiting nurses. They expressed hopes to "improve their nursing skills," "help the clients and their families to live their own lives," and "strengthen the collaboration with communities and play a certain role in community reform." Such self-recognition of their weaknesses and hopes together shaped the career goals the visiting nurses set for themselves.
