A 32 channel time analyzer utilizing binary scalers for storage has been developed, which is capable of performing completely automatic data readout, both in precision analog and digital forms. The purpose of this analyzer is to measure neutron time distributions in pulsed neutron experiments for nuclear engineering.
The data stored in the scalers are read out nondestructively, so that the data can be displayed in the form of histograms on a cathode-ray tube both during and after measurements. Another advantage of the analyzer is its small dead time, compared to similar instruments using core memories.
The paper also presents a method for data readout from integrated circuits used as a binary scaler.
