Usage of precast concrete structural elements for building construction is effective in achieving speed-up of construction and high quality. Recently the development of PC structures has been accelerated in China for a second time after a 30-year period of stagnation. And it is rather difficult but urgent to overcome various problems left over by the past, In Japan, a highly mature PC building system has greatly changed Japanese building industry. From the start of PC methods, to the assessment system and BL, label, the Japanese government has played a constantly important role in promoting the theories and practices of precast structures The precast concrete structural system in Japan has been further subdivided into W-PC method, PS method R-PC method, SR-PC method, PS-PC method, WR-PC method and more, adopted for different types of buildings, while Chinese precast concrete buildings are generally designed as Shear Wall Structure, Frame Structure, or hybrid structures. This paper then puts forward several problem-solving suggestions for the future development of Chinese precast concrete structural systems.
