Abstract
The purpose of this qualitative study was to describe how parents make decisions to receive Home Care for their children who need mechanical ventilation. In this study, 30 parents were interviewed who had children with chronic respiratory illness continuously requiring ventilator assistance. The results were followings.
1. The process of parents' decision-making in choosing home care for their child was revealed. Parents were influenced in making decisions by how they perceive their children's condition.
Parents chose caring environment which assures children to live and growth fulfill.
2. The differences between parents and medical members in recognizing the children's conditions influenced parental copings significantly.
It was suggested that it is significant for Ventilator-depended children to fill the gap between medical personal and parents.
