New techniques of synthesizing antibacterial fiber attached on silver nanoparticles have been developed. Irradiation on aqueous solution containing silver ion induces reducing reaction to form metallic silver nanoparticles. The silver particles are firmly immobilized on the surface of the fiber. Silver nanoparticles with high antibacterial activity are attached onto the fiber surface without any binder. The antibacterial fiber showed high antibacterial activity and durability.
